We have Kilkenny Cooling Systems Ice Builders all over the world, from Canada to Chile, from UAE to New Zealand. This one is being shipped to Ethiopia to be used in a dairy at an altitude of 2000 Metres not far from Addis Ababa. This ice builder is used to store cooling in the form of thousands of kilogrammes of ice in a bath of water just above 0°C.
Ice builders are not a new concept but they are seeing a huge resurgence recently. An ice bank acts like a ‘battery’ for cooling, making them ideal to pair with renewable or intermittent sources of electricity. The machine will build ice when electricity is cheap / or available and store it until cooling is needed.
This is not the first Kilkenny ice builder on the African continent. We also have ice builders in Nigeria, Tunisia, Algeria, and quite a number of them in Mali.
