Grantstown Nurseries is a family business based in Ballygunnar just outside Waterford city. The business was founded in 1978 and it specialises in growing tomatoes for the irish retail sector. The products they supply range from the smaller varieties such as suntini, to large beefsteak tomatoes, and they come in a variety of shapes and colours.
Recently, Kilkenny Cooling Systems installed a suite of chill coldrooms in their brand new production facility on the grounds of the nursery. The chill coldrooms will be used to bring the product down to temperature after harvest, and for short term storage before dispatch, to ensure maximum freshness at all times.
