The biennial Institute of Refrigeration Ireland Dinner and Awards took place on 16th September in The Louis Fitzgerald Hotel in Dublin.
150 guests from throughout the refrigeration industry attended the event. John, on behalf of the IRI also welcomed guests of honour Mike Creamer and his wife Maggie. Mike is the current president of the UK’s Institute of Refrigeration.
The evening started with an address from current IRI President John Smee of Kilkenny Cooling Systems, who outlined the current challenges and issues faced by the industry, and how the IRI works on behalf of its members to help address those issues.
John also discussed the success and popularity of the IRI’s online seminar series which draws on international expertise and draws a wider, international audience since the move to ‘webinar’ format.
Finally John introduced the evening’s Industry Awards – noting that as an organisation, the IRI strives to encourage the best standards and practices for the refrigeration industry.
Part of how this is achieved is by running the refrigeration industry awards, which showcase the very best the industry has to offer.
“Winning an award is great for a number of reasons – aside from recognising the hard work and ingenuity within an organisation – having an industry award under your belt is a great sales and marketing tool as well. The cachet and credibility of being recognised by your own industry as being among the best at what you do can be very helpful when it comes to winning business and securing contracts, which is why I always strongly recommend businesses and individuals submit an entry to the IRI Awards.”
John Smee, IRI President 2021-2022
