Cooling Systems and Equipment for UK Food Manufacturing Plant
We were commissioned to design and manufacture cooling equipment for a large UK-based food manufacturing plant which was manufacturing a new food product.
The manufacturing process called for large volumes of chilled water to be supplied within short time periods, at a very stable temperature of 0.5°C. This type of application normally calls for an ice builder – a cooling system perfect for peak demands and stable temperatures.
However, this site had an existing supply of chilled glycol. In consultation with the specialist industrial / commercial refrigeration contractor Mycold Refrigeration Engineers, it was proposed to use the site supply of glycol as refrigerant in the ice builder to build an ice reserve / buffer, which could be used to chill the bulk water volumes as required by the process.
The following image of the finished project was supplied by Mycold, having commissioned the installation this month. By all accounts the equipment is performing well and the customer is very satisfied with the solution, and how well it works with their food production process.
A re-manufactured stainless steel insulated vessel was also supplied as part of the project, which can be seen to the right of the ice builder in the image above,
Kilkenny ice builders are popular robust solutions for food production facilities, as can be evidenced by our significant list of reference sites for this product. They are adaptable and customisable and highly robust, providing extremely stable coolant temperatures even with highly varying demand.
